Hello again! ... I just had to write on this one! Water has been getting a lot of bad press in the past week. One newspaper had a huge headline describing it as " ... load of rubbish". It also had some TV time and radio air with perceived "authorities" - yes, including doctors! ... and members of the public in agreement ... They don't believe we need those 2 litres a day.
Obviously none of them have read the book "Your Body's Many Cries For Water" by Dr. Batmanghelidj (Link below).
So here's what I say, YES WE DO! (and more if we're exercising) - and by the way, this is based on a ton of science and evidence I've read over the years. It's not my "opinion". Plus anyone with some common sense would question all the media negativity last week. Wouldn't you? I certainly know how I feel when I'm de-hydrated. I'm not exactly functioning at optimum levels.
Think about these ...
~ Your body loses about 1.5 litres a day through your lungs, evaporation and elimination. (So if you're not at least replacing that?)
~ Your brain is about 90% water, muscles 75% and bones about 20%. (How's your concentration and memory?)
~ If you're thirsty you're at least 1% dehydrated. At this level your muscles contract about 20% less efficiently. (So not a great idea being in the gym if you're dehydrated or hung over!)
~ Your blood is about 80% water
~ Your whole body is about two-thirds water.
Your, health your choice .... Highly recommend this book. Click link to see reviews. CHEERS!
